EURO RUN 2010 PADERBORN, GERMANY |

Weather outlook for the next Five days: Monday, bright sunny: Tuesday, sunny with cloudy intervals: Wednesday, overcast: Thursday overcast with showers, Friday heavy rain. Ah! So usual weather build up for the bank holiday and the Chopper Club Euro run. This year we had decided to follow the same travel format as we had for the Belgium run year before: that being to break up the traveling into nice easy chunks and not as in previous euro runs Sprint for the ferry, dash to the run site, relax and enjoy the run then get up at silly o clock to high tail it back to the ferry then home. No this year it would be a more relaxed and stress free affaire.
On the ferry just off the Belgium coast the Belgian air force treated us to a display. of how to put personnel a moving ship and the remove them. This wasn't the first breakdown we had Cooly's reg/rec got fried between the M25 and the ferry. Time for a fag break and some posing. While repairs were carried out.
The carbs were stripped and cleaned. Rebuilt and installed and back on the road again. Only to run into several kilometers of traffic jam
By the time we had got to the run site, the Hollywood Safari Park, rode around it for a while before finding the camping area: getting the tents up and Phoning those left at home that we'd arrived safely but a 'little' damp, it was well and truly dark. As the Saturday dawned and we crawled from our tents in search of hot food and drink we saw..... what we had camped next to that had been hidden by the dark. Apart from the food available in the club compound we also had access to the Oriental restaurant That did a more than decent full English breakfast. Even before breakfast and or the hangover had settled down the bigger kids amongst us went and took advantage of the the parks amusement rides and tours that were free for Chopper Cub members and their families. Even with shade you can't look cool on a theme park ride Tim releasing the inner child. Craig and Grub perform the ancient welcoming salute. Apart from the funfair rides there was also the animal park. There is a monkey in this pic and here it is in close up Looks like a few of the animals had partied hard the night before. Where too next? This is the result of a male zebra getting in with a female pony
After trying to make each other 'hurl' on the funfair ride and had enough of looking at the animals, some went back to the compound for a few drinks and to catch up with brothers.
While some went sightseeing around the local area This castle, about 2 miles from Paderborn airport ,as the crow flies, is triangular having only three turrets and dates back to the thirteen hundreds, There are two museums in it's grounds: one is dedicated to the castles general history, the other to its 2nd world war role as the H.Q of the SS. This is a traditional type timber framed house of the area. This one had been converted into a restaurant Paderborn council house. One of those Arrrrrrrrrr! moments, allegedly. After a 500+ mile ride and 2 days of hard partying. It leaves you wondering where or on what did you spend the house keeping on. Outside the hospital in Essen after Pete with Cooly on the back went down after sliding on the tram tracks Pete got away with a few few bruises. Cooly dislocated his shoulder and broke his hand in several places. Relaxing on the ferry back to blighty.
For some this says it all. but overal a dam fine bank holiday weekend: rain what rain!
